I used stinit to specify block sizes for my "new to me" LTO-1.
Some of the resulting devices at 32K, others at 128., or 256K.
Surprise to me, when I ran amtapetype, specifying a matching
blocksize, the transfer rate was slower than at 32K. About
twenty percent if I recall correctly.
Any idea what might be the cause of that?
Erm, no, but I usually leave the tape drive in "variable blocksize mode"
(generally via setting the blocksize to 0), and then you can change the
blocksize on a per-application basis without needing tons of *st* devices.
