Has anyone been able to configure the HP Storage Works 1/8 Tape Autoloader for use with amanda as a tape library. I'm able to access data from individual tapes by manually loading them and accessing them as /dev/rmt/0, but I'm not sure if there is a device id that I can use to access the actual tape library portion.

I'm running Solaris 9, amanda-2.4.4p3. amtapetype gives me the following data on the tape.

define tapetype HP-Ultrium-LTO2 {
    comment "just produced by tapetype prog (hardware compression off)"
    length 206776 mbytes
    filemark 577 kbytes
    speed 2044 kps
}

mtx -f /dev/rmt/0 inquiry
gives me the following

Product Type: Tape Drive
Vendor ID: 'HP      '
Product ID: 'Ultrium 2-SCSI  '
Revision: 'F78V'
Attached Changer: No

This box also has a DLT4000, and a DDS3 connected to it which are on the following SCSI id's

Jun 13 07:50:29 scsi: [ID 365881 kern.info]
/sbus@1f,0/SUNW,fas@e,8800000/st@3,0 (st10):
Jun 13 07:50:29 <DLT4000>
Jun 13 07:50:29 scsi: [ID 193665 kern.info] st10 at fas0: target 3 lun 0
Jun 13 07:50:29 genunix: [ID 936769 kern.info] st10 is
/sbus@1f,0/SUNW,fas@e,8800000/st@3,0
Jun 13 07:50:30 scsi: [ID 365881 kern.info] /sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@4,0
(st4):
Jun 13 07:50:30 <HP DDS-3 4MM DAT>
Jun 13 07:50:30 scsi: [ID 193665 kern.info] st4 at isp0: target 4 lun 0
Jun 13 07:50:30 genunix: [ID 936769 kern.info] st4 is
/sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@4,0
Jun 13 07:50:30 scsi: [ID 365881 kern.info] /sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@5,0
(st5):
Jun 13 07:50:30 <HP Ultrium LTO 2>
Jun 13 07:50:30 scsi: [ID 193665 kern.info] st5 at isp0: target 5 lun 0
Jun 13 07:50:30 genunix: [ID 936769 kern.info] st5 is
/sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@5,0

On the tape library I've configured the SCSI Id's to be 2 and 5, because all of the others are taking. So I have

id 0 disk 1
id 1 disk 2
id 2 library id 3 dlt4000
id 4 dds3
id 5 lto2
id 6 cdrom
id 7 hostadaptor

maybe I should just take one of the tape drives off and make it a bit simpler, but I'm currently backing systems up to the dlt4000 and dds3 until I can get the library usable (so i'd rather leave production in production).

/dev/rmt/0 corresponds to -> ../../devices/sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@5,0:

which shows up as
Jun 13 07:50:30 <HP Ultrium LTO 2>
Jun 13 07:50:30 scsi: [ID 193665 kern.info] st5 at isp0: target 5 lun 0
Jun 13 07:50:30 genunix: [ID 936769 kern.info] st5 is
/sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@5,0

I've reboot -- -ras and rebuilt /etc/path_to_inst, but I don't appear to have any device that references scsi id 2 which is the library itself. Perhaps that is my only problem.

These are the devices that I can find that reference target 2
/dev/nrst10 -> ../devices/sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@2,0:mbn
/dev/nrst17 -> ../devices/sbus@1f,0/SUNW,fas@e,8800000/st@2,0:mbn
/dev/nrst18 -> ../devices/sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@2,0:hbn
/dev/nrst2 -> ../devices/sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@2,0:lbn

/dev/rst17 -> ../devices/sbus@1f,0/SUNW,fas@e,8800000/st@2,0:mb
/dev/rst18 -> ../devices/sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@2,0:hb
/dev/rst2 -> ../devices/sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@2,0:lb
/dev/rst25 -> ../devices/sbus@1f,0/SUNW,fas@e,8800000/st@2,0:hb
/dev/rst26 -> ../devices/sbus@1f,0/QLGC,isp@1,10000/st@2,0:cb
/dev/rst33 -> ../devices/sbus@1f,0/SUNW,fas@e,8800000/st@2,0:cb
/dev/rst9 -> ../devices/sbus@1f,0/SUNW,fas@e,8800000/st@2,0:lb
I have no idea what the mbn,hbn,lbn,cbn,mb,hb,lb,cb information means.

Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks for the help.
