I am getting scsi sense errors using the new drive about 1-2 minutes after an amdump or amflush starts.  Below are the reommendations from Exabyte tech support to fix it.

Any comments ?

The first backup failed last night on scsi sense errors after it writes only a short while.  After investigating things today and then finally got through to Exabyte tech support, there are some issues.  It will take time to address these issues, and that is something I don't have.  I am afraid this will have to wait a while unless someone else wants to tackle the problem.  Here is what is needed:

1) need a separate scsi chain; they said I already have too many scsi devices on this chain to make it reliable.  This means a new scsi card; also recommended adjacent scsi ids low in the tree such as 0,1 or 3,4 [this device needs two scsi ids]

2) need to upgrade the firmware in the autoloader to the latest version; this may not work on an alpha machine and more likely will only work from an Intel machine

3) need to upgrade the firmware in the tape drive to the latest version; same issue as above

4) when all of the above is satisfied, then he can start to give me some help if I still have errors, then they will be looking at my log files to help with it.

All this is reasonable and makes sense, but takes time.  Other priorities at present.
