Where did you get "30GB uncompressed" for a dds4 tape?
Maybe 20 (if you believe marketing), more likely 19.5GB.

As to your amanda.conf file; hopefully you have seen the sample in the
examples directory of the source distribution. It is extensively commented
and for each of the parameters additional info can be found on the man page
for amanda itself. In my view that is an as good, possibly better, starting
point than someone else's already customized amanda.conf. Even with someone
else's file you will have to examine each parameter and see if it seems
appropriate for your site and installation. My using 3 holding disk areas,
/u, /u2, and /w, is very unlikely to match your site. My use of 10 tapes
at 2 tapes per run, once a week with full dumps only is very unusual and
probably not suitable for you.

Better (IMHO) is to work up your own amanda.conf and if you have specific
points of uncertainty, ask questions about those points.
