Gene,
I'm not sure which version of tar I'm using.
'tar --version' outputs:
--snip--
tar (GNU tar) 1.13

The date stamp on the source tarball, on the SCO machine is "july 25"
and the newest one on ftp.gnu.org/pub/tar is "july 8 1999". I had to
compile it because SCO's tar is not gnu. It compiled fine and appears to
work ("tar -czvf [file] . " makes a nice compressed tarball)

Amanda seems to compile ok I'm using gnutar-1.13 and
What sub-revision? It really should be 1.13-25 for best results.
amanda-2.4.2p2. Can anyone help explain these error messages and
point me in the direction to fix the problem?
thanks,
chris
