You know, I would be happy if I were simply able to recover the backup
copies of the ADSM log files, if a couple of changes were made:

1. Back up the log files as the last part of doing a backup. This will
help to ensure that the latest backup copy contains the info you want.
The only thing missing would be the summary. If you could somehow
include that as well, then you'd have everything. If not, then at
least you would be able to get it from the prior days (just not the
    most recent day).

2. Make it possible to recover the log files from one place, regardless
of what type of platform the client was. I.e., if I use an AIX system
to do my analysis, I would want to be able to recover log files from
any clients, not just the AIX clients. This would be similar to just
automatically having an access-control rule allowing me to access the
log files on this node, and not requiring me to have a similar platform
type to that of the client node.

This way, once I have the client log files, I can see exactly what the client
sees, and if I want to do any filtering I can do it on my end. Also, this
solution would not take up any significant extra database space, which
frankly worries me.

By the way... When a scheduled backup fails, there is an error code
associated with the event. Are these error codes actually documented
anywhere?
