I have perfomed a v4.1.0 to v5.1.7 TSM upgrade (Win 2K). Since this has completed I am getting the above errors against all 4 LTO drives in our IBM3584 tape library. The library had been working fine with v4.1.0 and this has only started to happen since the upgrade.

Any jobs which try and use the library to write to tapes fail. TSM is also stating that the library needs to be auidted but this has already run and completed OK.

If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful as I cannot perform any backups to tape.

Many Thanks

Tony

G'day,

This may be a stupid question, but did you define the library and tape drive paths? This was a new piece added with TSM 5.1.x...if this has already been done, then I suggest you rebuild your TSM library from the ground up, including re-installing drivers:

- delete your current library and drive definitions within TSM

- stop the TSM Driver

- uninstall the drivers (IBM provides a utility for uninstalling the LTO drivers) and install the latest version; if you're already using the latest drivers, then uninstall and re-install

- restart the TSM Driver

- redefine your library, drives and paths within the TSM Server (double check the library SCSI id within the TSM Device driver)

If you're still having trouble, submit a trouble ticket with Tivoli support...be sure to tell them you've already tried the above process, otherwise that will be their first suggestion (I speak from experience)...good luck!
