This has been mentioned on the list before. we use it and are happy with
it. Backupc is opensource at http://backuppc.sourceforge.net/
and handles 40-50 desktops and laptops for us. Users can restore their
own files. It works for modern macs, linux and windows (with smbclient).
It does not backup the windows OS but does do files. It also tries to do
single instance store with links to keep the file size down.Our store is
around 800GB but we have scientist users with lots of stuff on their
local machines.
