server's /etc/hosts file (assuming DNS resolution is done via files
first) and then creating client with that same name, and then changing
its client id

My suggestion explicitly did not use "change" anywhere in the email.
I said you need to create the client with the appropriate client
id.  As others have said, they should match when the client is created.
You do this by doing a View->Details in the GUI and specifying the client
id just after the client name in the now-visible client id field.
