I have clients running a browse retention of 6 months and a retention

Yes they would, assuming you are using NetWorker 6 or above. The browse
and retention are stored in the media database for each save set. This
was not the case with NetWorker 5 and below.

Thanks for the response to this question.

We have had a further thought regarding freezing the index and mm database
info as it currently stands and starting a fresh.  situation below:

To stop the NW services and rename the following two folders:
index and mm
rename and move to a save location
Start the NW services which will re-create new empty folders
Create a new tape pool and retention polices etc as required.

If the frozen database was ever required, stop NW services and put in place
the stored index and mm folders, start NW services use for required restore
and again switch back when completed!

would this work? any issues?
