Now I am really confused. If it works properly when you open the default
map
using netview -dconsole, then what is it that does not work? That's how you
are supposed to upen the map r/w. Only one user can get a map r/w at a
time.
I would suppose that the netviewd daemon already has the default map in
r/w mode, so you can only get it r/o when switching to it using
'File..Open'.
If you launch it from the commandline with 'netview -dconsole', the
system takes netviewd down, letting you open the map r/w.

Hello Leslie,

I have indeed created the maps via the File save as after customization.
So saved maps when I saw using ovwls command are all rw. And all are
editable except the default map. But when I open the default map using
the command Netview -dconsole command it does work properly, I mean it
opens the default map which is editable.

So am unable to understand whats the problem , any other way to check
the same?

The permissions on the maps are handled with the ovwls and ovperms
commands, so
you can see the man pages for those. What you are describing does not
sound
normal
to me. Those commands will help you check your assumptions. Perhaps you
did
not
create the maps in the normal way (eg a snapshot is not a map). Maps are
listed when
you do a File...Open.

Hi all,

I have a unique problem in Netview. I had the default map and I created
a
customized map named abcd. I saved the maps and both these maps are
read/write.

After some time when I actually opened the default map and tried editing
any map symbol on the submaps , I am seeing that all are greyed out, I
mean
suppose I right clicked any symbol and said Edit object , I can see the
properties but cannot edit the same as its not editable, but the same
thing
is not true when I open the customized map I had created ie abcd map,
there
I can do all the editing on the symbols. Whats the command to actually
enable editing, or whats the problem,

Please help..

TIA.
