D'oh,

I was told wrong by EMC support. I guess they don't have it out there yet. I'll
talk to them and see when it will be available. I have a case where they said
the backport fix can't go in 8.0.1.2 because it's too late, but will be in
8.0.1.3.

The latest on the legato FTP, according to the release notes, is as follows:

The current cumulative hotfix is NetWorker 8.0.0.7 build 245. It was
released on February 11, 2013.

        The package is available at:

        ftp://ftp.legato.com/pub/NetWorker/Cumulative_Hotfixes/8.0

This is not an update for 8.0 SP1 (8.0.1.1 build 132)...am I missing something?

In case you didn't see my second post, the hotfixes are always on the old
legacy legato ftp site.

ftp ftp.legato.com

Under /pub/NetWorker/Cumulative_Hotfixes/8.0

Where can the 8.0.1.2 update be found? I don't see it on support.emc.com under
Downloads or on the Legato FTP Site. Is it GA yet? I would definitely be
interested in the release notes to see what was fixed...thanks!

Michael,

One thing I would recommend is to get ahold of 8.0.1.2. That's the 8.0sp1
release + the new hotfixes post sp1.

Subject: [Networker] Advice needed on upgrade and migration of NW 7.6.2 to NW 8

I'm looking for a bit of advice, specifically about the order of the steps.
I'm looking to upgrade my NW 7.6.2 server on Win2003 32bit, to NW
8 on Win2008 R2 64bit. Oh, and I want to rename it, in the process. :-) And I
have 130 clients.

I have the Procedure Generator, so I can figure out the steps for each phase I
want to go through, but what phases should I go, in what order?

Current:

NW server name: Old-NW
NW version: 7.6.2
OS: Win2003 32bit

End goal:

NW server name: New-NEW
NW version: 8 (whatever the latest version is) OS Win2008 R2 64bit

Should I:

Rename the server in-place now?
Migrate to new hardware?
Upgrade the NW version?

Or is there a better order?

(I will have to change the RES file on all clients, once I rename the server.
So I may start to do that now, while I plan out the project steps)

Advice/thoughts, anyone?
