Yes. To both.

There is no index saved on tape; we do the bootstrap save method. And no,
I didn't do nsrck since I did a "scanner -i" on the tapes themselves. I've
done 2 or 3 restores from this same non-existent client this way. However,
all those restores were browsable after the "scanner -i"; this one was
not.
