Re: [Networker] Re-labeling versus recycling?

Recycling will keep the tape in its current tape pool.
This will allow the current tape pool to re-use this tape.
Relabling allows you to specify which tape pool you want to use the tape.
Also, recycling allows you to still recover data on the tape until it is
over written.
Relabling erases all data for good.

Re-labeling versus recycling?
05/01/2003 11:58 AM
Please respond to
george.sinclair
Does anyone really know the difference between using just the 'L' option
with nsrjb to re-label a tape versus using the 'R' option to recycle it?
Typically, when I want to re-label a tape, I just use the 'L' option. I
do get prompted, and that's okay. Sometimes, I might remove the volume
first, though, but I've never used the 'R' option. I read the man pages,
but I'm still a little confused over the advantage of this option, and
why you would bother with it.
Thanks.
George
