Ah, I see the problem now. If it caused by using "AlwaysOpen = yes" in the sd
config (which is the default). That keeps the /dev node open after the
release command, which prevents eject on FreeBSD. Maybe other OSes allow you
eject a tape that is being used (i.e. /dev node is open)?
