I just sent small test job from my mail server - 15 GB in 1 directory
and 5 files. After 30 minutes it has transfered just 2 GBs to spool with
average transfer rate at 1.6 MB/s. So slowness is not caused by dealing
with lots of files.
I'm thinking that maybe CentOS compilation of bacula client is somehow
broken. I've used .src.rpm downloaded from bacula.org to build my
packages. OTOH I'm using exactly same packages on two more machines and
they work fine.
