Hello,

I'm new to bacula and currently a bit confused about the operation of
Bacula. I'm running Bacula on Debian/Lenny, plus some Bacula Clients
(-fd) on OpenBSD. All systems are running a 2.4.4 version of the
package.

First off, I have played around a bit, then tried to start over. In the
process, I found a hint that I should delete the database and the
*.state files, which I did. I also deleted everything (dpkg --purge)
and removed all bits on the file system, including the database and the
actual backup files, that I could attribute to having belonged to
Bacula, but still, after re-installing, the old job records keep
popping up. I'm really confused/scared about how Bacula can manage to
keep the data, and would like to know what else I could do to get rid
of that data.

Secondly, I have to back up a number of servers, some of them being
fairly similar to each other, and thus defined a number of FileSets for
each type of server. I want to back up to a large disk, but would
really like to not have everything in one backup file. Now I face two
problems:

* How do I specify that these backups go to - preferably - one file per
  backup run, and
* how do I migrate existing data to their own backup files.

The reason for asking is that I'd like to be able to shuffle around the
individual backup files, and/or make copies of selected files on
smaller media (eg. tapes), and to have my backup records in sync with
"reality" (in the form of actual backup files that I could restore
from).

So far, I have also defined a number of Storage elements in the
director's configuration and also the Storage server's configuration,
but I don't really see how to make this kind of use of it (using
"label" with a template that includes the date?).

TIA!

Kind regards,
--Toni++
