Hi,

I'm surprised to not see "deduplication" on the feature-list. That
feature has been requested numerous times on these lists by different
users (suggesting different approaches to cope with some of the
difficulties).

In bacula 3.0.0 there is a new feature which allows one to make a
virtual full backup by combining a previous full backup with subsequent
incremental/differential backups, thereby making a new full backup
without the need to push an entire new full backup over the
(inter)network. While this solves the huge bandwidth problem, the new
full backup still needs to be stored completely on the backup medium.
Deduplication makes sure that a full backup of which only 2% data
changed since the last full backup, also takes up roughly 2% extra disk
space instead of 100%.
That is an enormous difference, which especially makes disk-to-disk
backups at all possible/feasable. That makes deduplication a really
relevant feature for bacula, since disk-to-disk backups are getting
increasingly popular.

I would greatly appreciate it if this feature could be added to the
list, I would definately vote it 1st on my list.

Kind regards,

Erik Logtenberg.
