I forgot to say this: all of my targets have static IP addresses. If you're saying I don't need nmblookup since the server and the clients all have static IPs, why am I getting the perl error?

Hello again,

So I tried running BackupPC by going to /usr/share/backuppc/bin and manually starting ./BackupPC. I also tried running it with /etc/init.d/backuppc start but got the same error both times:

proton01:~# Starting backuppc: /usr/bin/perl: relocation error: usr/lib/perl5/auto/Compress/Zlib/Zlib.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Gthr_key_ptr

I'm so confused now. I reinstalled the perl package but that didn't solve the problem either. How do I get around this?

Thanks,

Omair

Does it land in some other directory? If your targets have DNS names or
static IPs you could probably get by without it - it is only needed for
windows name lookups.
