If you are serious about backups (and if you're not then simply don't do
them), I would buy a proper server rather than a spec'd up PC. You could
get a decent Dell server for less than twice what you're proposing to
spend, and that comes with three years on-site warranty (in the UK at
least: I don't know about other areas). And if any part of it breaks, Dell
fix it. Buy a Shuttle and if you have a problem, you're on your own. I've
been there: it doesn't make sense for a server. Don't get me wrong,
Shuttles are good PCs IMO, but they are not commercial servers. To keep
the backups solid and consistent you want a quality server.
