Im running into the same thing on ubuntu, from what ive read it could
be a timeout issue, ive set my time out extremely high to see if i can
get it to work, trying to backup a 12gig DB over the internet when i
get this error. (actually trying to get the entire machine which
includes the DB) so a total of about 30gigs. Im hoping its just a
timeout issue and if i can get a full backup the incr backups wont
take near as long. the backup ran for a couple days before i got that
error though.

Linux, because I'd rather own a free OS than steal one that's not
worth paying for.
