Not in our case.

Might well be, one of those internals things I don't know but I see
the logic behind that method. Not that I know anything but I could
see why someone might have done that.

We cut run time from 18 to 9+ hours, and it doesn't look like I'll
be able to convince the other admins at my site to make such a test,
even on a small scale.

I'm going to have to leave this to wiser heads with more experience
with amanda internals to puzzle over.

Many other sites are running indexing successfully, I don't know what
the bottle neck is at my site but I'm not going to be able to unravel
it on this pass.

We should be migrating Lnotes to a new server, and the current plan
it to leave the current amanda-server on the current box, so we will
be splitting the amanda client from the server, I may be able to test
some of these things then, but its a few weeks out yet.

If I get the go-ahead for some testing I'll update you and the list
when it happens. I hate leaving a mystery but we don't have the
resources to allow me to attempt to solve it just now.
