The error amanda got was "permission denied".
Amanda was using workgroup GANDALF.
You used workgroup TELESPAN.
Try comparing the same thing.

By extra backslashes do you mean something like: \\\\gandalf\\gandalf?
No, the way you should enter it is //gandalf/gandalf - note forward slashes.
