1. I believe amanda _really_ doesn't like running more than
once per day. At least in a single config. Having multiple
configs _might_ avoid her objections there though.
I've heard that a few times before, but I still don't quite understand
what the problems are supposed to be. I actually *did* two runs the
same day not long ago, and I haven't observed anything out of the
ordinary so far. What should I be looking out for?
Amanda can run many times a day.
In my test set up, I do it frequently.
Also, when some important DLE failed, I sometimes do run a
'amdump daily veryimportanthost /Very/Important/Disk' on the
same day manually.
Problem area's are:
- holdingdisk: if you run into degraded mode because there was
no tape in the drive, you overwrite the files in holdingdisk
- amrecover works by datestamps, not datetimestamps. Also the info
database with information about which tape contains what had only
datestamps. You can always use amrestore instead of course.
- you will never get a level 0 dump except the first run that day,
unless you specify dumpcycle 0 (that's not a bug; that's expected
behaviour)
(That's what I can think of now, maybe there are more issues.)
