Those sorts of questions can normally be answered by reading the 
ChangeLog in the latest snapshot.  And thats a bit lengthy to post 
here.  Comparatively speaking, 2.4.2p2 is pretty jurrasic by now, 
but theres an exellent chance you could install it right over the 
2.4.2.p2 install, using the same old configs, and not have a 
seconds trouble.  But there are some new options in the 
example/amanda.conf you might want to study too.
