Actually, when you run amflush, it asks you whether you want to flush
all dumps from the holding disk, or the subdirectories corresponding to
specific dates only.  So if you want to have everything flushed to one
tape, you can do it if it fits, otherwise you can flush to the tapes
amanda would have expected.

Be aware though that amanda won't do full backups normally when she is
forced to go to holding disk; that's likely to destabilize your backup
rhythm over the weekend, but things will smooth out within a few days. 
(Just had failing tapes during two consecutive nights, with no time to
flush between, and it recovered nicely.)
