You don't have to.  Gene was only talking about a few percent.

Your run showed 20GB was written to the tape.

Ten GB was from the 18DLE's that were successfully written.

Then after 20GB total was written, it reached EOT.  So 10GB
from 18DLE OK, 10GB from 1 DLE failed by not finishing before
EOT.  Twenty GB total.
