Hi,

More info about what sort of performance problems you are having would
help.

Some info about our setup.

Multiple servers:
Win 2000 SP4 running ITSM 5.2.4.0
IBM X360, 2 cpu (HT) 1,6 GHZ, 4 GB ram
Disk sub: SSA JBOD config.

DB 69 GB (65 % util) - 86 GB (76 % util)

Number of defined nodes: from 76 (smallest) to 136 (largest) setup.

Data stored per TSM server: from 30 TB (smallest setup) to 70 TB
(largest setup).

# tape drives: 12 Lto1 (shared between 2 ITSM servers) - 20 LTO1 (shared
between 2 ITSM servers).

Total data back-up per day: anywhere between 1,4 en 3,5 TB per day (no
storage agent in this environment).

The performance problems we encountered where:
- Hi CPU and Memory usage: better load balancing and scheduling help to
bring that somewhat down;
- Many back-ups hanging in the status "in progress", without any
sessions on the ITSM server: - defining more smaller db vols instead of
less larger db vols;
- Slow restores: - Better configuration of clients disk layout,
implemented DIRMC and disk stg pools for dirs, turning caching on on the
disk pools.

Maybe above will help.

Regards,

Karel

Hi Luc,

On all platforms running ITSM server you can get performance issues.
Most of them can be solved by tuning things. It would help to know what
kind of performance issues you have and what versions and hardware you
are running.

Karel

Hi all

I have a TSM server on a WIN2K server .... I have some performance
issue, I suspect that maybe Windows 2000 can be a cause ....

Is there a difference if TSM is installed on a AIX box ... or another
OS

Thanks

Luc
