RE: [nv-l] Object in DB but not on map

Have seen lots of good suggestions, and perhaps you've found a solution already. If not, here's one more thing to try. I've had trouble rediscovering routers at times due to interface objects in the database preventing rediscovery. The node is not in the database, but the interface objects are. I've had luck locating the interface objects on the map by creating a smartset of all the IP addresses that exist on the router, then deleting those interfaces from all submaps, and then trying to rediscover the router.

Check first whether you are running on a read-write map, and try stopping and restarting it first, letting ipmap synchronize with the data base.
If that doesn't do it, then I'd vote for Ray's database cleanup commands and then a restart of the GUI because they force ipmap to re-evaluate every object and symbol.

But I don't see much use in reset_ci (sorry Ray). It's mainly for daemons, which have lost the ability to communicate with each other because they don't know where they are. The only map activity is to update the map location with mapadmin to guarantee that it resides on the correct host.

If "/usr/OV/service/reset_ci" does not resolve the issue, then you may have to perform a database cleanup...
We like to use the following commands:
ovmapcount -a
ovtopofix -a
Don't forget to backup your databases before running the above commands.

What happens if you search for the object by the "IP Address" "Attribute..".

Use the "Locate" menu option and see if you can find the device that way on the Read/Write map... It may have been placed automatically in a network segment on your map...

We deleted an ATM router from our all submaps and waited for it to rediscover the device an place it in the holding area. We waited a good hour and it still didn't show up. I did a nmdemandpoll on both the hub router connected to the ATM circuit and the ATM router itself. Demand poll did poll the device, but it still never showed up on the map. Do I need to do a ovtopofix -u to get it to show up?
