Hi Sabi,
Check your /usr/OV/conf/oid_to_type and /usr/OV/conf/C/oid_to_sym files to see if your particular router type(s) are defined there.  If you have SNMP access but you are only seeing blank square boxes, this is probably the problem.

With regard to your dynamic workspace, sounds like you want a window with just a couple of specific traps??  I would create a filter (Tools -> Filter Editor) that specifies the trap(s) you're interested in.  You may also want to restrict to certain devices??  Once the filter is built, simply create a dynamic workspace which specifies this filter.

I'd also edit my .Xdefaults file for
  nvevents.loadEnvOnInit : True
  nvevents.saveEnvOnExit : True
so that this workspace is preserved over a NetView GUI close / restart.

Another game you can play is to create a SmartSet based on IP status set to Critical or Marginal (AND isNode=True) - that way you get a window with all your dodgy nodes.

Cheers,
Jane

Hi all,

Situation 1.

Has anyone experienced the following, I installed NetView 7.1 on Solaris 2.8 and the server seems to discover all nodes but the interesting thing is that routers gets discovered and are represented by the green square box, so to rectify this I loaded the mib and checked that snmp/cs are set/enabled. I then deleted one router from all maps and again the node got discovered and is still represented by the green square box.

I delete the object once more and then add it MANUALY and the correct symbol is displayed, using loadhosts I still get the green square box

Any ideas is this a bug, I hope not as there are more than hundred routers in this state.

Situation 2.

When a router goes down it turns red but the event comes up as unreachable, how can I create a dynamic work space to list all nodes that are down i.e. unreachable/critical

Many thanks in advance,
