Two possible approaches I've used:
1) referece the TopM Interface List as a SELECTFIELD, which gives you
all of the rows of output and then post-process that in a script.
2) go after interfaces rather than nodes, and you can reference those
attributes of interfaces that appear in the TopM Interface List. You can
also reference attributes of the parent node, both in the SELECTRULE
and in the SELECTFIELD statements, eg
SELECTRULE:isInterface=TRUE
SELECTRULE:TopM Node ID:vendor^Unset
SELECTFIELD:1:IP Address

If I were looking for all nodes with Frame interfaces, I would use 2).

Thanks Leslie.

I did open a PMR with support. There is an APAR IY24614 for a similar
problem already open.

What do you use "outside of nvdbformat" to gather TopM Interface List info?

Ray.

The TopM Interface field is a wierd one, and I would not
expect it to behave the way you want it to. Whenever I
want to do anything fancy with it I go outside of nvdbformat.
The field predates the function and does not seem obligated
to play along.

Ray, when you say "I found a problem.." did you mean that
in the sense of "I'm having a problem..", or in the sense of
"I want to report a problem"? Just a reminder to all that this
is still the kind of forum it was before, where product users talk
amongst themselves and a few IBM/Tivoli people but in
a little (well, a lot). Do call Support to report defects or to
get direct assistance.

Hello Everyone.

NV 6.0.3 on AIX 4.3.3.9

I found a problem with a nvdbformat input file. The purpose of the file is
to list all routers with TopM Interface List contains "Frame Relay". Here
is
the input file:

SELECTRULE:TopM Interface List~Frame Relay
SELECTFIELD:1:Selection Name
OUPUT:${1}

nvdbformat only returns the devices with "Frame Relay" in the 1st line of
the TopM Interface List. For example, this ovobjprint shows a device that
would NOT be
found by the nvdbformat command and input file above. (I removed most of
the
output.)

Any suggestions on now to create the correct input file?

Thanks in advance.
