If you're not using vault, I'm not sure anything else is available.
What are you hoping for in "more appropriate"?

Depends on what you're looking for.

If you have a pool dedicated for duplicataion, check the bpimagelist for
volumes in the correct pool.

If everything is in the same pool, look for the different copy numbers
in bpimagelist output.  Each one will represent a separate copy.
