I don't have an answer for you, but its a great question!

The bptm processes eat a considerable portion of my (Solaris) server.  
The more concurrent streams, the more bptm processes.  With 40-50 
streams, my cpus are maxed out.

How did you come to choose 5000 over 5100 series?
