I have a number of machines with slower than expected backups and many
more files than expected backed up (v5.1MP3a+).
These are all Linux systems with file systems that have (in very round
numbers) a million files, 100K directories and 100GB data.
With TIR and move detection enabled, an incremental backup time is a
couple hours. In addition, an incremental (and succeeding cumulative
incrementals) contains a file count of 30-40% of a full backup ... this
on very quiet systems.
With TIR disabled, an incremental takes 30 minutes (1/4 to 1/3 of the
time) and backs up only 2-5% of a full.
So with TIR (with move detection) hundreds of thousands of files are
getting backed up that are not with it off. Is this expected or does it
sound like a problem/bug?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences! cheers, wayne
