Hi,
recently i upgraded our Backupsystem from Veritas Netbackup 4.5FP6 to
Veritas Netbackup 5.0.
Since then, i got an bad error during backup of one of our 10 NDMP Qtrees.
The Error i got in the Netbackup-log ist the following:
Error bptm (pid="xxxx") ERR-cannot write TIR data to medium, NDMP Return
code 9
Error bpsched (pid="xxxx") backup of client <client> exited with status 13
(file read failed)
NDMP Host is a netapp F820 with Ontap 6.4.3P1 (ndmp Version 4)
Netbackup Server is an SUN Ultra 2 with Solaris 9.
Tape Drive is a SDLT320, NDMP attached.
Has anybody seen this Error or knows a solution for that?
Its a little bit confusing, because netbackup 4.5FP6 worked in the same
environment without any problems.
regards,
Klaus Micheler

Bill
the volume database lists the tapes it knows about - assigned or unassigned.
so if the tape is in the library, it needs to be in the voldb.
the media db ( and the medialist report ) is those media assigned to media
servers with valid unexpired images on them.
so, this is normal.
check the media logs from the reports menu to ensure that there aren't any
errors / failures to deassign/assign media.
regards
mark

I'm new to this list and new to using NBU, so forgive me if this is a dumb
question.
In viewing the Reports | MediaList, many media that should be on the list
are missing. They can be viewed in the VolMgr database via VMQUERY -m <ID>.
The VolMgr data seems to be correct. Medialist shows some 250 media and
there should be more like 450. Medialist doesn't even include all the media
that are presently in the library.
Why does this happen, and how can I correct the inconsistencies & prevent
recurrence?
System info:
NBU DataCenter 4.5 FP6.
Win2k Adv. Svr. SP4
Dell PowerVault 136T.
1/2" HCART 100/200GB.
Thanks,
Bill
