This is what I had to do to get it to run on the client side.

1. Install the client for Windows.
2. Install the agent for SQL.
3. Shut down the SQL server service.
4. Install the patch J0850645.
5. Install the NT with add-ons patch.
6. Startup the SQL server.
7. Set netbackup service to use the administrator account and restart
the it.
8. Add the DSN user "backup" with the server name (not [local]) and
fill out all other fields.
9. In the command line, in the \installation_path\veritas\netbackup\bin
directory, type the following: dbbackup -mssql -dsn <user DSN name
defined in step 8>
10. If SQL authentication was used, then you must type the following:
dbbackup -mssql -dsn <user DSN name definded in step 8> -u <SQL
user_defined_in_user_DSN> -pw <password for user> (Note: if the user
defined in the authentication section of ODBC, then don't use the -pw
switch.)

On the server side I just pointed to the backup script and fired it off.

Install the software at the client. Install the license at the server.
Use
SQL on the client to generate the backup scripts. On the server setup
the
class and clients and in the files tab put the location of the backup
scripts on the client.

Funny thing when we did ours was that even with the explicit full path
it
wouldn't find the script but when we just put the script filename (you
can
do that if the script is in the default location, it was) it worked.

I am trying to install NBU for SQL 7.0. I have a 2000 Master server and
a 2000 machine with SQL.
The master is configured and I have installed NBU agent on the SQL
machine. Now where do I install the SQL database agent? On the Master or

the client?

And once I install, do I just follow the book to configure it? Seems
very involved. Any gotchas?

Thanks very much.
Prasad.
