I have a Win2003 server that is a storage node. It has 2 tape drives.
>inquire
[email protected]:QUANTUM SDLT600 3535|Tape, \\.\Tape2147483645
S/N: QD0912AMC00220
ATNN=QUANTUM SDLT600
QD0912AMC00220
WWNN=500E09E000186FCE
PORT=00000001
[email protected]:QUANTUM SDLT320 6060|Tape, \\.\Tape2147483646
S/N: QDK02Y0034
ATNN=QUANTUM SDLT320 QDK02Y0034
IENN=00E09E60001853B9
WWNN=500E09E0001853B9
So what I want to do is load, without mounting, a tape on that SDLT320
drive. (No mounting, because the tape does not in exist in the media db).
Yet a "nsrjb -ln -f \\.\Tape2147483646" fails ...
>nsrjb -ln -f \\.\Tape2147483646
7842:nsrjb: cannot connect to NSR service on
admnman012.wrk.ads.pha.phila.gov
39078:nsrjb: RPC error: Program not registered
If on a storage node, enter the NSR server hostname? [snode-name]
Problem is, if I enter my Networker server name, it has a device on it,
which also appears as \\.\Tape2147483646 (which I find odd, but then, it
is Windows ....). So if I tell it what the server is, it tries to load a
tape in the tape drive of the server ....
SO the question ... how can I load my tape into the SDLT320 drive on my
storage node? Ordinarily, I would do it from NMC, and just choose "Mount"
(there is no load, on a stand-alone tape device). But, because the volume
is not in the media db, it fails).
There has to be a way, but what?
