Yes, I have only a handful of clients that I wish to do this with, but I
might run into the licensing limitations as mentioned - I'm not sure if
those kick in counting just physical devices or would included logical
devices (in this case, symbolic links) as well.

The Networker Performance and Tuning Guide (V7.4) mentions the creation of
multiple devices and the licensing limits - see the section "Configuration
of file type and adv_file devices".
