So, I called out the pink elephant in the room -- I didn't pretend my
list to be complete. Tim, what issues would you add to my email? You
might be surprised they apply for many other sites. That's the true
power (and value) of this list.

* Support for NetWare. Legato let the NetWare client (which was flakey
even when it was new) languish virtually unmaintained for years. They
have put some effort into a true v7 client, thanks in no small part to
pushes from people on this list (George R. being #1), but it still
lags way behind the other clients. It's even on a different development
cycle (updated versions release at a different time than all the other
platforms that release a 7.2.2 or a 7.3.1 simultaneously). Most of the
people that have posted about the v7 NetWare client have talked about
having to downgrade NLMs and stand on one leg while chanting to get the
thing to work. That's not the kind of client parity our site is looking
  for.

If EMC doesn't believe it's in their business interest to continue to
develop a reliable product for Novell's offerings, then fine, but at
least be honest about it. Tell the customers "Novell's market share
sucks, it's not worth our time, we're EOL'ing the client", so that
the customers can make some decisions about what to do. The kind of
limbo customers with NetWare clients are kept in is very frustrating.

* Security. I can't be specific, but EMC's response to security problems
in the product hasn't filled me with confidence. We're talking about
an application that could give an intruder (or an insider with a grudge)
the keys to the kingdom, so I have extremely high expectations regarding
the application's security and how EMC as a company handles security
problems. Those expectations haven't really been met in the past.
