Networker should authenticate by ip address/name, rather than mac address,
so you should be ok as long as your forward and reverse lookups work. -
including domain name

Also you can go into the client setup windows and aliases for any dang thing
and it will accept it.

An easier thing to do in this instance might be to temporarily set up your
test servers as new clients; then go into your client settings on your prod
servers and give the test servers permission to restore - that way you can
do directed recovers from your prod machines to your test ones. I believe
the doc has "test" enabler codes someplace that would let you license extra
clients.

Subject: Recovering to a test environment.

Afternoon,

I am about to setup a test environment for our new installation of Exchange
and I want to make a very close replica of three of our servers in our
Network. Does anybody know if I would be able to remove our backup server
and add it to the test environment and then recover to test machines that
have the same client name as the live servers? I am thinking because they
are not actually the same machine (i.e. different MAC addresses) the clients
in Networker will not recognise the actual servers and won't recover the
data.

We are running Network 7.1.build.230 on Windows Server 2000.

Any pointers would be appreciated.
