Byron,

Thanks,

As mentioned in the mail, I can get it to diplay the "name" information. (Im
reasonably versed with nsradmin, <cough> <cough>)

However, the problem comes in when trying to restrict it to display the info
for ONE client only (when I do below - including your suggestion I either
get ALL the client's listed - or "cannot find info" - or nothing).

When I try a similar query for device information I can get device specific
info, and then update a specific field. (no problem?)

I would NOT want to accidentally update an enabler field for hundreds of
clients and then have to try and figure out manually which ones do exist,
and then try and change them back - but then sit with the same problem again
as I cant specify them individually (you get my gist?).

The workaround that I have does work (with its own hicups such as not being
able to create a client resource if it isnt on the network anymore), however
we have a site that literally has many hundreds of clients, a LOT of them
arent on the network anymore, but they need to be able to restore (so the
client resource must be there) ....

Riaan,

nsradmin> show enabler in use
nsradmin> print type: type; name: NSR client

will show you the type information for the NSR client resource; I'm
going from memory so I apologize if the above does not work perfectly.
The field information for the enabler in use field will show you if it
is read only or not. It should also be listed in the nsr_client manual
page.

If it is read only, you should look at nsrlic and see if that has
options to do this.

The show command tells nsradmin what field to display for future
queries. To display, say, just the name and the 'enabler in use'
fields, try:

nsradmin> show name; enabler in use;
nsradmin> print type: nsr client; name: client

and see if that doesn't do the trick for you. And, yes, after that you
can do an update.

HTH,

Byron
