Paul,
I noticed this behavior when I upgraded from 6.1 to 6.1.3 on a HP K570,
HP-UX 11i. Its been a few months, but I seem to recall that I had entries
in /etc/syslog.conf that directed messages to /nsr/logs/messages under a
couple different rules. After cleaning up my syslog.conf file I stopped
getting duplicates.
