Hi Tonny,
What's the nature of the files on the volume? If it's tons of small files,
that'll kill the backup performance.
How full are your volumes? The filer starts to fragment the volume when the
volume reaches ~90% capacity.
Large numbers of snapshots can also affect (at least it used to back in the
early days of OnTap 6.x - don't know if still happens). For example, this
happens if you have hourly, nightly, and weekly snapshots enabled on the
volume.
