Hello everyone,

We have configured bacula on our laptops ETH network IP and job scheduled to same time every day.

I would like to know if we can make backup solution with bacula more dynamic because people tend to move with their laptops and they are connecting to WiFi.

See the RescheduleOnError, RescheduleInterval, and RescheduleTimes directives for the Job resource in bacula-dir.conf.

Is it possible to initiate incremental backup job only when the client is connected with his ETH NIC?

Not really, however client-initiated backup may well be ported to the community version.

I confirm that the client initiated backup will be in the next community version.  I need to finish a high-priority
project (for Bacula Systems and the community) before I can do all the planned backporting.

Best regards,
Kern

I know it is implemented in the enterprise version.

And what happens if client goes offline during backup, will the job complete or will be canceled?

The job will fail. For that reason, you may also want RerunFailedLevels=yes for the laptop jobs.
