I am running Bacula 7.4 with a 24 tape loader (HP/SUN) and LT)4 (800g tape). I
use a single pool named "LT04Pool"
It works fine. Trying to do a 20TB backup in 4 jobs, so more tapes than slots
The system wrote 24 tapes and completed with the last tape #24 at 804G used, ie
99+% full
Since it is 'full', I used the opportunity to change out all 24 tapes to new
media, for the next job. Loaded tapes 25-46. Labelled/added the media. Loaded
tape 25 in the drive and started the next 5T job.
Started writing as expected, but when it got to the end of 25, instead of
loading 26, it complained that it wanted 24 again and slot 0 was empty!
Now I know why slot 0 is referenced, because tape 24 is not in the changer, so
it sat all night
I finally fixed it by manually loaded tape 26, and did a MOUNT, and marked 24
as full using 'update'
It seems 2 bugs here:
1) Tape has slot and 'in changer'. It got error on slot 0, when it could see
that 24 was NOT in the changer using the 'in changer' field
2) Then when it saw 24 was not in the changer, just use any other tape marked
for the pool, but it obsessed looking for tape 24
The correct warning as I see it, should be something like:
Tape 21 not in changer, using other append tape in the pool
..and it would continue. But it just obsessed with the tape that was 'missing'
