Hi Steven, 

I assume that's the way it works. You'll need to keep an eye on your
file table though as it can grow ridiculously large esp. if you have
many small files per job. 

Another option could be looking into bscan / bextract and friends
which will also allow you to extract a set of files from a bacula
volume.
