Hello,

2013/4/19 Hans Schou <hans AT moc DOT net>
Hi

I have a local bacula director running a file based SD. Full backup once
a week and then incremental during the week. Full backup is currently
about 2TB. Most of the time I have room for 2 full backup (14 days old).

I now want to have a remote backup 10 km away and I want to have data on
LTO tapes. Full loaded library has 13TB tape space. Bandwidth between
servers would be about 100Mbit/s. The amount of remote disk based
storage is limited. Then intension was not to change tape cartridges
very often, most likely every 3 to 6 months where the tapes would be
stored on another remote location.

My plan was to migrate the oldest full backup each Monday but it seems
like it is not possible to migrate from one SD to another SD.

Any suggestion much appreciated.

Export disk volumes with NFS, mount it on remote SD server and copy it to tapes using bcopy.

Another solution is to wait for SD->SD migration functionality. It is on the dev table.

best regards
