I don't think that would help me in this situation, would it? I have no login access to the server so I won't be allowed to set up the whole server in a virtual machine. ... or, do you mean something else?
Yes, virtualization would probably require their involvement. But it's not too tough to virtualize an existing system. It might mean a little down
time though. The benefits are tremendous-- from a resource and a recoverability standpoint.
Are they not interested in disaster recovery? Or will it take a failure before that need arises?
