AWESOME: Total newbie. Great software! I just came up with an alternate to "it comes in the night..." - "Works great, less filling"
VERSIONS: On FreeBSD 7.0, installed bacula 2.2.5 and trying to veer away from Networker.
225 CLIENTS: About 100 of my users are on Linux and 100 on OS X with a couple of dozen on XP Pro.
DATA SIZE: Current tape and on-disk storage is around 20 TB compressed. We perform monthly fulls and incrementals every other day.
WHERE WILL THEY LIVE: director and index database will be on one server and sd will live on a Solaris zfs SAN.
QUESTION: The question is how big of a director server do I need to perform all on-disk backups (monthly fulls and incrementals every other day)? I have the option to put it on a low-end x86 server with a 2 GB RAM or on a Sun x4150 with 4 GB RAM. How much cpu and memory resources does dir take up?
Thanks,
Yudhvir
