I'm still not sure if this is a problem with the Tandberg hardware/firmware, or 
a 
problem with bacula, but I've been in touch with two other bacula users who 
experience the same problem, so I think that means it is not a problem with my 
particular drive or setup.  Maybe that gives me enough evidence to discuss the 
problem with Tandberg in a reasonable way.
